About New Beginnings Studio

New Beginnings Studio grew from a love of photography that took me somewhere I never originally expected. What began with stepping in to photograph some of my closest friends on their wedding day gradually developed into wildlife, landscapes, family celebrations and eventually the studio we have today. Along the way, I realised that what I enjoyed most wasn’t simply taking photographs — it was capturing personalities, connections and moments that genuinely meant something to the people in them.

How New Beginnings Studio began

It really began when some of my best friends were getting married. I had arranged the photography for their wedding, but when the photographer was unable to come, I decided I was going to photograph it myself. I bought a second-hand camera, stepped in on the day and discovered that I absolutely loved it.

After that, I started investing a little more in the equipment and learning as much as I could. I bought a couple of additional lenses and spent a lot of time photographing landscapes and wildlife. Wildlife photography became something I particularly enjoyed, and one of the experiences that really stayed with me was travelling to Wales to photograph ospreys from a hide using a large wildlife lens. It taught me a huge amount about patience, timing and watching for the right moment — things that still influence the way I photograph people today.

Around the same time, I began photographing parties and family occasions, and that gave me more confidence working with people. I found that I really enjoyed capturing natural expressions and the little moments that happen in between the obvious photographs. The more I photographed, the more I wanted to learn, so I spent time improving my camera skills, understanding lighting and developing my editing. That was when I started to realise this could become more than a hobby.

As my confidence grew, so did the idea of creating something of my own. I knew that, eventually, I wanted to move away from working for somebody else and build a business that gave me more freedom to be creative and offer photography in a more personal way. That idea eventually led to creating our own dedicated photography studio and bringing New Beginnings Studio to life.

From the start, I wanted New Beginnings Studio to feel a little different — personal, relaxed and shaped around the people in front of the camera. That might mean a beautifully simple newborn session, relaxed family photographs, documenting a wedding day, or something completely playful like a Cake Smash & Splash with a twist. Sometimes it might even mean a spaghetti and meatballs smash! Whatever the session, the important thing for us is making it feel personal to you.

A family-run studio

New Beginnings Studio is very much a family-run business. I’m the one behind the camera, with support behind the scenes to help everything around each session run smoothly. Together, we want the whole experience to feel relaxed, welcoming and personal — from your first message right through to receiving your finished photographs.

Photography that feels like you

Whether we’re photographing a newborn, a first birthday, a family, or a wedding day, the approach is always the same: keep things relaxed, give people time to be themselves and create photographs that feel personal rather than forced. We want people to leave New Beginnings Studio having enjoyed the experience just as much as the photographs that come from it.
