Information we may collect
Depending on the service you enquire about or book, we may collect information including your name, address, email address and telephone number; details relating to your enquiry and booking; your chosen photography collection; your baby or child’s name, date of birth or expected due date where relevant; photographs created during your session; information you choose to provide to help us plan your session; relevant allergy, health or accessibility information where you choose to provide this and it is necessary to plan and carry out your session safely; payment and transaction information; communications between you and New Beginnings Studio; and your choices regarding optional use of photographs for our portfolio, website, social media or promotional purposes.
We will only ask for information that is reasonably necessary for the services we provide.
Why we use your information
We may use personal information to respond to enquiries, provide quotations, manage bookings, prepare for and provide photography sessions, communicate with you, process payments, maintain appropriate business records, edit and deliver photographs, arrange prints and wall art, manage private online galleries, deal with questions or complaints and meet our legal, tax, accounting and regulatory obligations.
Where you have separately given permission, we may also use selected photographs for New Beginnings Studio’s portfolio, website, social media or promotional material.
Our lawful bases
Contract — where information is required to manage your booking or provide the photography service you have asked us to provide.
Legal obligation — where information must be retained or processed to meet legal, accounting, tax or regulatory requirements.
Legitimate interests — where reasonably necessary for the administration, security and operation of New Beginnings Studio, provided your rights and interests do not override those interests.
Consent — where we specifically ask for your permission, such as optional public use of photographs or, where required, non-essential website analytics or tracking.
Special-category information — if you choose to provide relevant health, allergy or accessibility information, we will only use it where necessary to plan and carry out your photography session safely. Where this information is special-category personal data, we rely on your explicit consent to process it. You can withdraw that consent at any time, although this will not affect any processing already carried out before you withdrew your consent.
Photographs of babies and children
We recognise that photographs and personal information relating to babies and children require particular care.
Booking a photography session does not automatically give New Beginnings Studio permission to publish photographs of you or your child.
Any permission for portfolio, website, social-media or promotional use will be requested separately. Choosing not to give this permission will not affect your booking, session, photographs or the service you receive.
Website enquiries and contact forms
Our website uses Jetpack Forms, provided through WordPress.com and Automattic, to manage website enquiries.
When you submit a contact form, the information you provide is stored within the website system and may also be emailed directly to New Beginnings Studio.
Our website also uses Akismet Anti-spam, provided by Automattic, to help protect our forms from spam and abuse. Where Akismet checks a submission, information such as your IP address, browser or device information, name, email address, website address where relevant and the contents of your message may be processed for spam detection.
Website statistics and analytics
Our website uses Jetpack Stats, provided through WordPress.com, to help us understand how our website is being used.
Jetpack Stats may collect information such as page and post views, outbound link clicks, referring websites or search terms, approximate location and browser or device information. Data such as IP address, user agent, visiting URL, referring URL, time of visit, browser language and country code may be used to produce these statistics.
New Beginnings Studio receives aggregated statistics and does not receive information identifying individual website visitors through the Stats dashboard.
Where UK law requires consent for non-essential analytics or similar technologies, we will use appropriate website consent controls. Further information is provided in our Cookie Policy.
Who we may share your information with
Where reasonably necessary to provide our services, information may be processed by trusted third-party providers such as WordPress.com and Automattic, Jetpack, Akismet, online-gallery services, payment or banking providers, professional photographic laboratories, website and email services, accounting services and secure digital-storage or backup providers.
We will only share information that is reasonably necessary for the relevant purpose.
International processing
Some of the service providers we use may process or store personal information outside the UK. Where personal information is transferred outside the UK, we will ensure that the transfer is permitted under UK data-protection law. This may include transfers covered by UK adequacy regulations or transfers protected by appropriate safeguards, such as approved contractual protections. Further information about the safeguards used for international transfers is available from us on request.

Clients are responsible for downloading and safely backing up their finished photographs during this period. Permanent online storage cannot be guaranteed.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights under UK data-protection law including the right to request access to your personal information, ask for inaccurate information to be corrected, request deletion or restriction in certain circumstances, request portability where applicable and withdraw consent where consent is being relied upon.
The rights available can depend on the lawful basis on which information is being processed.
Your right to object
You have the right to object to certain types of processing of your personal information, including some processing based on our legitimate interests. If we use your personal information for direct marketing, you have the right to object to that use at any time.
Withdrawing consent
Where New Beginnings Studio relies upon your consent, you may withdraw that consent by contacting us.
For example, if you previously gave permission for photographs to be used on our website or social media, you may later ask us to stop future use based on that consent.
Withdrawal does not make any processing that was lawful before the withdrawal unlawful.
Keeping your information secure
New Beginnings Studio will take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against accidental loss, misuse, unauthorised access or disclosure.
Access to client information will be limited to people who reasonably need it for New Beginnings Studio business purposes.
Cookies and similar technologies
